Below are some patients’ own accounts of their problems. Except for anonymisation and some formatting nothing has been changed. I have deliberately not picked cases that have been “cured”. The cases which are cured are common especially if the patient is suffering from BPPV alone. In my experience, some patients have recurring/fluctuating or persisting problems and the aim of treatment is an improvement. Most of the cases have elements of Migraine associated vertigo and Migraine Associated Vertigo/Dizziness and/or Persistent Postural Perceptual Dizziness (PPPD).

  • Patient 5 – fluctuating hearing, pressure in the ear, ear pain, ear itchiness:
    • I am continuing to take the following medications – Amitriptyline (50mg per day), Betahistine (3 x 32mg per day), Bendroflumethiazide (2.5mg per day). The stability of my hearing and the pain / itching in my ears have improved. The tinnitus remains unchanged, and my sensitivity to noise (which causes a feeling of fullness in my ears) has also slightly improved.
